Central Florida American Bulldog Club & Adoption Network Inc.
A FL NOT FOR PROFIT CORP
Purpose:
To hold events, educate the
public and
raise money to aid rescue and facilitate American Bulldog Adoptions
Further:
BE RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR OWN BREED
Keep American Bulldogs from going into shelters and rescues
where they are often arbitrarily euthanized because of their breed
Using direct placements into experienced homes whenever possible.
Using open communication to work with rescues for the best interests of the dogs.
The kind of person needed to help with an AB Adoption Network:
Is an experienced & responsible breeder, trainer or owner of American Bulldogs with integrity and references.
Facilitation of placement and adoption
Will be completely honest and direct.
Will be diplomatic with people.
Love American Bulldogs!
You do not necessarily have to foster dogs at all or put in money.
You will try to find appropriate homes with people you know personally.
Have them apply and be approved.
Then when a situation comes up in your area, we contact you and you can match that person to a dog that fits. Or we arrange a distance match. No breeding animals would be placed.
Dogs placed directly or send the adopter into the shelter, cutting out the middleman and multiple placements. (Dogs get attachment disorder too!)
Only problem dogs would need specialized fostering with trainers and/or evaluators.
Follow up with placements as needed and report outcomes!
The first part is not required but badly needed.
Visit the kennels in your area and DO something if you see a problem. Start by trying to work with the breeder if possible. Take the necessary steps to do what is best for the breed.
Start a list of Kennels that have an “open door” policy and invite inspections in your area!
Let me know if you are interested:
Please send complete contact information.
A brief letter describing your experience and qualifications if any.
A vet letter of reference.
A letter from your county animal services stating you have no negative reports regarding animals. Or attach an explanation if there are any.
2 personal/dog related references. Names and contact is fine, letters are great.
A copy of your drivers license.
(If you will foster) a copy of tax information from your county proving property ownership.
I know this seems extensive, but you can get started by submitting the initial letter.
